Neumann u87 with shockmount

This is the Neumann U87, a highly respected large-diaphragm condenser microphone. It is a standard choice in professional recording studios worldwide, particularly valued for capturing vocals, acoustic instruments, and drum overheads with accuracy and detail.

The U87 is known for its balanced sound profile and low self-noise, making it suitable for critical recording applications where sonic integrity is paramount. It offers three polar patterns, allowing for flexibility in various recording scenarios. While it excels in studio environments, its robust build also makes it a reliable option for controlled live sound applications where a high-quality condenser is required. When you hire the U87, it comes with its dedicated shockmount to minimise handling noise and vibrations, along with the necessary XLR cable and a phantom power supply if your mixer does not provide it.

Choosing the U87 means opting for a microphone with a proven track record for delivering premium audio. It is a go-to for engineers and artists who need a microphone that translates sound faithfully, providing a rich and detailed capture without excessive colouration. Consider this microphone when your project demands the highest quality input, particularly for lead vocals or solo instruments that need to stand out.
